21st AIMIA Awards finalists are announced

AIMIA has announced the finalists for its 21st Annual Awards.

The announcement:

AIMIA today announced the finalists for its prestigious 21st Annual Awards, rewarding the nation’s finest talent in digital content, services and the applications industry. Demonstrating creative excellence and design innovation, the winners will be announced at a ceremony on Thursday 12th March 2015 at Sydney Town Hall.

The Awards, which cover 30 categories, are open to a range of industries including tourism and travel, automotive, education, retail, financial services and healthcare. Submissions are judged by a panel of over 100 industry experts and evaluated based on creativity, innovation, user experience, technical implementation and overall effectiveness.

“This year is a significant milestone,” said AIMIA’s National Committee President and Joint Managing Director of Reactive, Tim O’Neill. “The ceremony will celebrate winners on the night but also the industry’s outstanding success over the past 21 years. The standard of work reflected in the finalists is a testament to the strength of the digital industry in Australia, with world-class projects across every sector,” said O’Neill.

Matt Griffin, Co-Judging Chair, also observed that the calibre of work entered this year is higher compared to last year’s. “The finalist entries this year are all outstanding, and win or lose, the nomination itself should be considered an incredible achievement.”

Overall, there are 109 finalists across 59 companies. “The low ratio of finalist entries to companies means that we have a larger variety of companies as finalists this year than previously, showing an increase diversity,” adds Griffin.

The judges were impressed with the highest number of student entries in the twenty years of the awards. “Students are being active citizens of the digitalised world and the number of entries submitted by the younger generation is a testament to how fast technology is advancing,” said Duncan Stone, Co-Judging Chair. “As the networking event of the year, the awards ceremony will be a chance for younger members of the industry to learn from leading digital players.”

Finalists include SBS, ABC, Deepend, Fairfax Media, Tourism and Events Queensland, VML Australia, DT, ING Direct, Evolution 7, Soap Creative, Atlas Communications Group, Monkii, SP Health, Adrenalin Media, Bound Round and Bureau of Meterology.
