22 Jump Street dominates weekend box office, pushing The Fault In Our Stars to third place

22 Jump Street, the sequel to 21 Jump Street starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, dominated the weekend box office taking $6.883m across 359 screens.

The comedy, which sees police offers Schmidt and Jenko go undercover once again, this time at a local college, has taken just over $7m since premiering last Thursday.

It pushed The Fault In Our Stars, which topped the weekend box office last weekend, into third place with How To Train Your Dragon 2 maintaining its second position.

Children animated movie How To Train Your Dragon 2 grabbed $3.474m across 544 screens while The Fault In Our Stars, based on the book by John Greene, took in $1.270m across 292 screens.

Disney’s Maleficent also maintained its position at fourth place, bringing in just over $1m in ticket sales across 280 screens taking its total Australian box office takings to $12.705m.

From fifth place down, no movie broke the $1m mark, with action movie Edge of Tomorrow only managing $996,313 across 311 screens.

X-Men: Days of Future Past remains in the top ten after taking in $643,170 across 252 screens taking its total Australian box office to $21.659m.
