ABC says it wants The Checkout back in 2014
The controller of ABC1 has signalled that consumer affairs show The Checkout is set to be recommissioned.
The first ten part series, a co-production between CJZ, The Chaser’s company Giant Dwarf and the ABC, finished airing last night.
ABC1 controller Brendan Dahill today told Mumbrella: “We are looking forward to bringing The Checkout back next year.”
The 30-minute episodes focused on consumer rights and dubious marketing claims with targets including Cadbury, cigarettes, and the Therapeutic Goods Administration.
The final episode of the show fronted by Chasers Craig Reucassel and Julian Morrow attracted 882,000 metro viewers last night. The show made its debut on March 21 to an audience of 795,000.

Amateur-hour TV. Make it better – less like an afternoon educations show for school-kids, and more professional, slicker, punchier – and it’s welcome to a slice of my 2c per day!

The Checkout is a great show; very informative. They do however need to sort their tech out. The highlights were so consistently blown out in most segments that it looked like they were shooting during the apocalypse.
