Alice Almeida becomes head of audience and data at Ausbiz

The former head of strategy and innovation at News Corp, Alice Almeida, has resurfaced at media start-up Ausbiz as head of audience and data.

Almeida left News Corp in August last year whilst on maternity leave. She then went viral on LinkedIn when she lamented the difficulties of attempting to return to work, with some recruiters suggesting she take a $90,000 pay cut just to get back in the game.

After the success of her LinkedIn post, and the issues it shone a light on, Almeida starred in a LinkedIn campaign which showcased the platform’s ability to bring people together and ignite opportunities.

And now, Almedia has her next opportunity, with media fintech business Ausbiz, founded by Kylie Merritt and bankrolled by Sunrise star David Koch.

Ausbiz will be a continuous lives-stream service dedicated to business and finance information, which will broadcast from studios at International Towers in Sydney’s Barangaroo. It will be available free via the Ausbiz app.

In addition to her role as head of audience and data – which will see her take responsibility for utilising insights from the live streaming service to provide further relevant and desirable content for the audience, as well as working with clients to strategically align their brand with their preferred audience – Almeida will be looking after PR and marketing for the brand.

Almeida told Mumbrella taking the role was a no-brainer.

“Having always worked for long-standing media organisations or companies, it’s incredibly exciting to be part of a startup where every day is new and challenging. It was a no brainer for me; the product is smart, unique and delivered right to a usually very difficult to reach audience. I’m looking forward to being part of building something new in Australia.”
