Animated spider Gert runs for his life in spot promoting Gerni power washer from Bloke
A cutesy animated spider called Gert is forced to seek refuge in the eye of a garden gnome to avoid being blown away by a power washer in an ad for Gerni Power Grip.
The TV ad is a refresh of a similar campaign for the brand which aired last year, but agency Bloke decided to cutesy up the spider from a regular-looking one to “something with more character and personality” according to the press release.
Last year’s ad (below) saw a man washing his car using the auto accessories, whereas this year’s centres around a man washing the wall of his house.

“Last year we were asked to showcase the Gerni Auto Accessories for the Gerni Titan,” said Bloke creative director Mike O’Rourke in the statement. “So we did a product demonstration from the point of view of ‘that spider that lives in your wing mirror’. It’s getting hard for Gert to find somewhere to hide.”
The brand plans to carry the Gert character through its future marketing executions.
