Are Media makes senior hire to drive programmatic trading

Adtech expert Chris Espey has been recruited from Google Marketing Platform sales partner FiveStones, to drive Are Media’s programmatic trading.

Espey spent three and half years at the consultancy specialising in digital marketing, data and analytics.

Are Media was formerly known as Bauer Media Australia. It was sold by Bauer Media Group to Mercury Capital in 2020, following its acquisition of former Seven West Media publishing division, Pacific Magazines.

Are Media director of sales Andrew Cook said Espey was the right man to lead its digital capabilities.

“Chris brings extensive programmatic, digital media, adtech and publishing experience to the business at an important time,” he said.

“Given the significant growth we are experiencing in programmatic trading, he has the right skill set for Are Media to help us evolve our programmatic offering.”

Espey added: “With some of Australia’s most iconic brands for women, Are Media has shown real innovation in how it connects advertisers to audiences across its digital platforms.

“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to work with clients and agencies to drive programmatic sales outcomes.”

Prior to FiveStones Espey was GM of sales and marketing at Fastrack Technology.

He also had spells at Brus Media, Acxiom and Allure Media, in addition to Sky Media and Haymarket Media in the UK.
