Arnott’s Susan Massasso moves roles after less than a year as marketing director

Susan Massasso, the marketing director of Arnott’s, has been moved into a new role less than a year after taking the top marketing job.

Massasso, who was appointed director of marketing and marketing services for Australia and New Zealand at Christmas, takes on a newly created regional position.

Local marketing duties will be split between marketing manager Susanna Polycarpou, who runs Arnott’s biscuits division, and Rebecca Carson, who handles savoury products.

An Arnott’s spokesperson told Mumbrella that the company is not looking for a replacement marketing director.

Massasso moves into the role of regional marketing director, Asia Pacific.

The company told Mumbrella in a statement: “Susan’s new role is an exciting opportunity which offers Susan expanded regional responsibility and accountability.”

The company said the new position would involve: providing advice on core consumer marketing initiatives (brand equities, brand architecture, communication, packaging design, customer programs) in partnership with business unit general managers and marketing teams. And managing all key agency partnerships – advertising, media, packaging design, research – across Asia Pacific.

Arnott’s ended its long relationship with agency GPY&R Sydney in May, handing its entire account to DDB Sydney. Patts last ad was for the newly introduced biscuit Roadies, a variant of the Shapes brand that was designed to go with beer.

DDB Sydney was behind Arnott’s most high-profile ad campaign this year, which saw free Tim Tams hung on trees at Martin Place in the Truly, Madly, Tim Tam campaign.
