Independent media agency Atomic 212 has solidified its senior leadership adding $100 million in new billings across the past year, appointing Claire Fenner as CEO and Rory Heffernan as national managing director, Mumbrella can reveal.

Across just the past 12 months, the agency has won clients including Entain Australia, Aware Super, Craveable Brands (Red Rooster, Oporto and WA’s Chicken Treat), Freedom Kitchens and Price Attack, as well as retaining Origin Energy, Bupa and Beyond Blue, amongst others.

It announced today that it has also won the media account for expedition and voyager line Ponant following a competitive pitch.

Heffernan and Fenner

Fenner, who recently returned from maternity leave has now been elevated to CEO, from her previous role as group managing director.

Heffernan, who was the agency’s first employee, and was appointed as acting-managing director last year, now gets the national MD role confirmed.

“I’m incredibly proud of what our team has been able to achieve over the last few years,” Fenner told Mumbrella. “2022 was our most successful year yet, where we saw all of the work we have done to refine our Effective Media product, establishing a strong leadership team and a lot of hard work and commitment from our people really pay off.”

“We have developed a product that addresses an increasing pressure on marketers to quantify the impact of their investment on business outcomes.  I’m excited to see what we can achieve in the next few years as we continue to enhance our statistically-driven planning approach to deliver amazing results for our clients.”

Heffernan added: “Having been part of the whole Atomic journey to date, it’s been a really rewarding 12 months leading the business – we’ve seen our efforts really pay off in the way we’ve been able to attract and retain incredible people, had a new business success rate of over 85%, and continued to enjoy amazing partnerships with so many great brands. We’re on to something that’s helping our partners drive really strong returns from their media and it’s a pleasure to see all the talent and excitement across our business. We’re all looking forward to sharing some great new products and services we’ve been developing.”

The agency said it has grown by 30% over the past 12 months, now housing 150 staff, including its new office in Brisbane thanks to new business in that market (Entain).

Chairman of the agency, Barry O’Brien said to Mumbrella: “An absolute credit to all the team across our four offices on the product and offering we have in place for our clients in the Australian marketplace. James Dixon and I are very proud of where the business is at and where it will now go to with the incredible leaders we have in place. A huge thanks to our clients and also our media partners for their backing and continued support of our clients campaigns.”
