Attack of the mutant killer copycat zombies
Remember the zombies in Sydney’s Martin Place earlier this year? As Dr Mumbo revealed at the time, they were the work of Mango PR to promote the launch of computer game Resident Evil 5.
By an amazing coincidence, Melbourne saw an outbreak of zombies this week too. And guess what? It was also to promote a zombie computer game, this time one called Plants vs Zombies.
However, although the zombies were better dancers in the second effort, it does look like a bit of a shameless rip-off of Mango’s effort which garnered the front page of mX at the time.
Meanwhile, zombies are presently very much in the news, with this excellent spoof of the BBC’s news site offering alarming news of the mutating swine flu virus:
Really they are both copies. With the Plants VS Zombies being the greater offender of the two.
Zombie marches have been seen in large cities for quite some time now with the latest zombie march in Melbourne taking place in the last fortnight.
The marketers behind the Plants VS Zombies, whether blindly or not had their stunt appear in the same week. This is far too easy for my liking.
