Attivo Group names Anthony Gregorio as new chairman

Attivo Group — which owns agencies including 303 Mullenlowe, Mediahub, and Tonic Comms — has appointed industry leader Anthony Gregorio as its new executive chairman, ANZ.

The newly-created role will see Gregorio draw on his 30 years of experience in leading, building, and re-inventing agencies and brands.

Gregorio was most recently a partner at Tumbleturn Marketing Advisory.

Prior to that, he held senior executive positions across agencyland, including as Saatchi & Saatchi Australia’s CEO for five years and CEO of the Havas Creative Group ANZ — an agency he was with for 15 years. He was also a board director for Foodbank Australia for over nine years.

During his time with the Havas Group, Gregorio worked across Havas Worldwide Australia, Arnold Furnace, The Red Agency, and Havas People.

As ANZ executive chairman, Gregorio will work with Attivo Group’s leadership team including Sue Squillace (Attivo ANZ CEO and Mediahub ANZ CEO), John Rizoski (Attivo Group ANZ COO), and Cam Murchison (Attivo global CEO).

His appointment will allow Murchison to turn his attention to global growth and acquisitions, particularly following “strong growth in the US” recently.

“I’m excited to welcome Anthony to our expanding team, at a time when his client-focused approach teamed with strong marketing consultancy experience, will bring great benefit to our clients’ business growth, and widen our broader market appeal,” Murchison said in a media release on Monday.

He said bringing Gregorio into the existing leadership team will allow Attivo Group to support its individual agency brands to “set their own determination, with strong collaboration and sophisticated shared services behind the scenes”.

Agencies within Attivo include Hill Holliday, DNY, 303 Mullenlowe, Mediahub, Farrimond, Tonic Communications, and Gorilla.

Gregorio and Squillace — who once worked together at Publicis Groupe — will work closely on cross-agency and cross-client opportunities.

“I’m thrilled to have two such established leaders at the helm of our ANZ operations and I look forward to working closely with them as our group goes from strength to strength,” Murchison said.

Gregorio described the move as a “great opportunity” to get back to “what I love doing most” — growing and building agencies.

“This new role is especially exciting because it brings together my background in growing agencies with the strategic insights I’ve gained through consulting. I have deep respect for Cam, Sue, John and the independent, entrepreneurial culture they’ve built at Attivo across a range of agency services,” he said in the release.
