Avant Card supports UNICEF

Avant Card will print fifty thousand postcards pro bono for UNICEF – drawing awareness to the flooding in Pakistan.

The announcement:

As a thriving business, with clients across many industries, Avant Card has a commitment to reinvesting in the local and greater community as well as supporting national and international organizations in need.

In response to the Pakistan floods, Avant Card approached UNICEF with the offer of running a pro bono national awareness campaign. 50,000 postcards will be printed and distributed nationally on 22nd September conveying the message about the devastating effects of the flood and calling for donations. Avant Card’s reach multiplier figure of 2.5 will see the message reaching 125,000 people Australia wide.

The postcard medium is known as the print social media and an ideal form of viral messaging.

“We are thrilled to have the support of Avant Card to help generate donations for flood-stricken Pakistan.

This is one of the largest humanitarian crises UNICEF has faced and as monsoonal rains continue to fall, more people are requiring assistance every day. ‘’

‘’This is a great initiative and has the potential to reach thousands of Australians who we know are so eager to donate to those who have lost everything in deadly flooding,” said, Norman Gillespie – CE, UNICEF.

More than 18 million people, including eight million children, have been affected by Pakistan’s worst floods in living memory. This is a disaster of unparalleled magnitude, affecting more people than the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami and the January Haiti earthquake combined.

Humanitarian operations are underway and aid is being delivered, but relief efforts must be scaled up to reach desperate families in need. UNICEF has the capacity to scale up the response but additional funds are urgently needed. There is a serious threat of water-borne diseases spreading, particularly in Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan provinces. Sanitation facilities, life saving medical supplies and immunisation must be provided to prevent the needless loss of many lives.

Avant Card hopes that their support leads to an influx of donations from the public and also encourages other media owners and agencies to donate their services to this important cause.
