Bianca Dye and ARN part ways

Bianca Dye is no longer contracted to Australian Radio Network (ARN).

Dye joined Brisbane’s 97.3 FM breakfast show in 2017 alongside Bob Gallagher and Terry Hansen, replacing Robin Bailey.

Hansen then left the line-up in 2018, citing debilitating fatigue resulting from a long-tenure in breakfast radio. He was replaced by Mike Van Acker, who helped form the ‘Bianca, Mike and Bob’ show.

Then, at the end of last year, ARN revamped the show again with both Dye and Van Acker leaving the program. In the December announcement, it was said Van Acker was leaving the network, but Dye would have a new role with ARN in 2020.

Mumbrella had asked ARN about Dye’s new role in March and again in April, but was told the network was unable to comment.

Now after Dye spoke with Radio Today, ARN has confirmed Dye no longer works with the network. It declined to comment further.

The 97.3 FM breakfast show has since brought back Bailey and Hansen, reforming the ‘Robin, Terry and Bob’ show.

Bailey had said she was “blindsided” when her contract negotiations broke down with ARN at the end of 2016.

She then joined Southern Cross Austero’s (SCA) Triple M, but departed last year to spend time with her terminally ill husband, Sean Pickwell.

Pickwell passed away soon after.

The radio ratings are currently paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however are scheduled to resume data gathering on Sunday, 26 July.

The most recent survey had 97.3 in second place for FM stations in the breakfast slot, with a 10.4% share, up 0.3 points behind SCA’s Hit 105 which was on 11.8%. ABC Brisbane had a 10.6% share.
