Byron Cooke returns to KIIS 101.1 Melbourne

Byron Cooke has returned to the station to host breakfast until February when the Jase & Lauren in the Morning show returns.

The announcement:

Well known and much loved radio personality Byron Cooke is back on breakfast radio in Melbourne. Byron stepped in to host KIIS 101.1 breakfast this morning and will back behind the mic until February when the Jase & Lauren in the Morning show returns.

Jase Hawkins is expecting his third baby any day now and it made sense for KIIS FM to delay the return so he can spend quality time with his family.

Byron said, “I’ve been mates with Jase for a long time and I’m a big fan of Jase and Lauren’s show. I’m sure my early morning calls will be received very badly by them both, but it’s all in the name of keeping everyone updated on what’s happening – especially any baby news from Jase.”

Byron, who left FOXFM at the end of 2020, is looking forward to the short stint saying, “Stepping in to KIIS breakfast while Jase and Lauren are on a break is a dream. I get my fix of live radio for a few weeks, before resuming my other great love – sleep ins.

Byron stepped away from commercial radio following his five year stint on FOX FM breakfast, to create his independent podcast ‘The Byron Cooke Show’. Byron has since achieved a range of positive community outcomes and was named a Podcast Host / Presenter Of The Year Finalist at the 2021 Radio Today Podcast Awards. Topics tackled so far on “The Byron Cooke Show” span everything from cyber-bullying to politics. Most recently it has taken a more personal turn. This revealing, raw side will be explored further in 2022. Byron will always be willing to ask (and answer) the more confronting questions.

“Even though there have been plenty of challenges for everyone over the past two and a bit years, like lots of people I’ve just got on with life. Being able to finally visit my American son Zephyr (13) this past December in Los Angeles was a great start to 2022. It had been a very long two years without seeing him in the flesh. I call him Z Man! He’s an amazing young man and I’m so very proud of him.” Byron said.
