Carsales appoints Mark Cripsey as its new chief product and data officer

Carsales has appointed Mark Cripsey to the role of chief product and data officer, a new position which was created in the ‘organisational structure realignment’ of 2019.

The restructure saw former DAN CEO Simon Ryan exit the business and the promotion of Ajay Bhatia to managing director – Australia.

Cripsey joins with 20 years of digital and eCommerce experience, including time with Accenture and Myer. He will leade the product, data and program teams, helping the silos align and continuing the evolution of the Carsales business.

CEO Cameron McIntyre called the new position ‘transformative’.

“I’m very pleased to welcome Mark to Carsales as our new chief product and data officer,” said McIntyre.

“This is a transformative role for Carsales. Mark’s experience and expertise will support Carsales’ global nature and help to lay the foundations for the company’s long-term success and future growth,”

Cripsey has held chief operating officer positions at both Myer and Lovisa and positions at Tesco and Coles.

“With a career spanning across markets including the United Kingdom, United States and India, Mark’s wealth of experience and knowledge will add significant value and capability to our product, data and program teams,” McIntyre said.

Cripsey said the business is looking at a strong future and that he’s looking forward to being a part of it.

“I’m delighted to be joining Carsales. This is a business that has a clear and authentic purpose with a mandate to scale,” he said.

“Carsales has a global outlook and a strong, clear strategy and long-term commitment to the automotive industry. I’m looking forward to being able to build on the great work the whole Carsales team has done to date.

“I look forward to working with the data, product and program teams to deliver change at pace,” Cripsey said.

Since leaving Carsales, Ryan has gone on to launch a new holding group, Ryancap, with the first agency, Ryvalmedia, announcing Carat’s former managing director, Joseph Pardillo, as managing director.
