Casefile True Crime holds top spot, ARN/iHeartMedia leads in Podcast Ranker list

Australian Radio Network’s (ARN) Audioboom podcast, Casefile True Crime, has held onto its top spot in the December 2021 Podcast Ranker from Triton Digital, after knocking Hamish & Andy off the perch in October’s results last year.

The number one podcast had a total of 772,844 listeners across the month, with 1,948,764 monthly downloads, and a total of three episodes published.

Southern Cross Austereo’s LiSTNR duo followed with 600,842 monthly listeners, with 1.351,357 monthly downloads, and one episode published.

Since November’s ranking period, Life Uncut with Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne from ARN/iHeartMedia dropped to fourth spot, with The Update from Nova Entertainment just pipping the duo taking third position. The Update has experienced a successful debut year, after being launched in January as a twice-daily offering, replacing the Nova National News Briefing.

The Update had 399,793 monthly listeners and 841,116 monthly downloads, while Life Uncut had a total of 392,194 monthly listeners, and 1,052,854 monthly downloads.

ARN/iHeartMedia was again Australia’s top network with 2,839,163 monthly listeners and 12,589,603 downloads, followed by SCA’s LiSTNR with 2,311,273 listeners and 8,262,475 downloads.

ARN’s head of digital audio, Corey Layton said, “After an incredible year of growth for ARN’s iHeartPodcast Network, we’re excited to remain the #1 Podcast Network, a position ARN have held since the Publisher Ranker launched in 2020. 2022 is set to be even bigger with an ever-growing slate of incredible content and a few surprises in store…”
