‘Change is coming’, says Greenpeace in campaign voiced by Isabel Lucas
Greenpeace has launched a new TVC, ‘Change is Coming’, with the aim of attracting Australians’ attention to the issue of climate change.
The campaign focuses on the relationship between burning coal and the extreme weather events which have occurred across Australia including floods, droughts, heatwaves and bushfires.
The ad is voiced by Australian actress Isabel Lucas, who said: “I’m lending my voice to this important video that tells the story of everyday people suffering from the damage being done to our climate at the hands of politicians.”
David Ritter, CEO of Greenpeace Australia Pacific, said in statement: “Australia is experiencing a climate emergency and burning coal is a major cause. Australians are losing their homes and livelihoods to climate damage and as a country we are sick and tired of inaction by politicians.
“Poll after poll shows Australians want clean air, clean water and clean energy. But never underestimate the power and determination of the Australian people. This advert tells the story of climate damage now – but also celebrates the future, because change is coming.”
The TVC was produced by production company Hello Future TV, which recreated the scene of a flooded living room in a large outdoor pool.
Emily Bull, director and founder at Hello Future TV, said: “When Greenpeace approached us to be their production partner we were thrilled to lend our production services to such an important campaign. Logistically this shoot was very tough but we love a challenge. From creating a flooded lounge room in an empty pool to filming close to a coal-fired power station. We are really proud of what was created and hope that our leaders take notice.”
In 2017 Greenpeace launched an installation in Pitt Street Mall which featured a polar bear on a melting icecap. When a passerby touched the installation, water would drip down the icecap.
The new TVC will accompany a wider social campaign.
