CHE appoints Mike O’Hare as new ECD

Advertising agency CHE has promoted Mike O’Hare to the role of executive creative director following the departure of Jason Ross.

The Announcement:

CHE today announces Mike O’Hare’s appointment as Executive Creative Director following the resignation of Jason Ross who leaves the company after five years.

“It has been a fantastic few years and I’m really proud of the work we’ve delivered. The team is great and I will miss them all. But the time has come for me to explore a new direction,” says Ross.

Mark Coad, CHE CEO says Jason’s energy and passion for the industry will be missed. “It’s particularly fitting that Jason resigns after a recent successful night at the MADC awards where the creative team picked up five awards.”

Mike O’Hare, who has been the highly successful Creative Director on Mazda for the past year, will step into the role effective immediately.

“Over the last decade Mike has worked as an ECD at leading agencies around the world including Lowe in Hong Kong, China and Tokyo, Leo Burnett in Moscow and JWT in Bangkok. That experience working on clients such as P&G, HSBC, Audi and of course Mazda ensures our creative department will deliver outstanding work for our existing and new clients,” says Coad.

Coad says the decision to fill the position internally builds on other recent appointments to strengthen the agency’s core offer and position.

“I have appointed two Managing Partners to round out the senior management team. Anathea Ruys joined us following ten years as Managing Director of Spark Activate, a large activation agency in Auckland, and Clare Jones has been promoted from her role as General Manager of Simon Richards, the direct and digital arm of CHE,” explains Coad.

“We have brought the digital and traditional disciplines together across the agency including the Creative Department, Account Service and Production. It makes sense for a results focused agency such as CHE to ensure we have the most streamlined processes to allow us to focus on delivering great work.”
