Clemenger BBDO Melbourne CEO Nick Garrett adds Sydney to remit

Clemenger BBDO Melbourne CEO Nick Garrett has extended his leadership remit, becoming CEO of both the Melbourne and Sydney operations.

Garrett’s new role comes two months after Clemenger BBDO Sydney’s CEO Andy Pontin resigned after 12 years with the agency.

Garrett will commence his new role in January

Garrett was appointed as the agency’s Melbourne CEO in August 2015.

Robert Morgan, executive chairman of the Clemenger Group, said in a statement: “Nick has demonstrated great leadership in his time at both Colenso BBDO Auckland and Clemenger BBDO Melbourne.

“He gets the needs of the new age of advertising, he’s a hunter, is loved by his clients and is a magnet for talent. He is a passionate believer in the importance of creativity as our key differentiation. He also makes the complex clear in respect of being a successful marketer in the digital age.”

Garett will assume his new role as of January, while Pontin will remain with the agency until February to ensure a smooth transition.

In September, the Melbourne office saw a leadership shake up after Paul McMillan was named the CEO of The Monkeys Melbourne.

A couple of weeks later, Clemenger BBDO announced Gayle While would become deputy CEO of Melbourne, while Simon Lamplough was appointed to the role of managing director.

In July, the agency lost chief creative officer Ant Keogh, who left to join The Monkeys Melbourne as its head creative.
