Cops LAC audience falls again
Nine’s Cops LAC lost another 139,000 on its third outing, delivering Nine just 787,000 viewers on Thursday night.
The Kate Ritchie led Coogee cop drama – dubbed by News Ltd TV critic Di Butler as Cops Load a Crap – initially hurt Ten’s cop drama Rush in the 8.30pm slot, but the gap has declined from 500,000 viewers on Cops LAC’s debut to 138,000 last week and 11,000 last night.
The show lost audience despite Nine’s preceding show getaway performing better last night than it did the week before – delivering an audience of 1.020m. After Cops LAC ended, Nine’s audience recovered again for The Footy Show, pulling in 892,000.
Elsewhere in the schedule, Sunrise’s winning run against Today came to an end, with the Nine show rating365,000 to Seven’s 356,000, according to preliminary overnight metro ratings. Today won Sydney by a big margin, Melbourne was a dead heat and Sunrise narrowly won Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
More follows later
Cops – Load of Crap. Thought that was funny. And I also thought we all might play along. I’ll go first:
Cops – Low Audience Count

I saw a bit of it last night and must say it’s pretty bad. Does anyone else see the similarities between LAC and The Bill??
– ‘Local Area Command’ = Sun Hill Police station
– Features plain clothed police and their uniformed counterparts
– Slightly dodgy production values and dialogue.

I have only ever seen the ads for this program – now glad I have never watched it.
(Turning to) Rush isn’t too bad a little hit and miss – last night miss, last week relative hit. They need to work on their story lines a bit more. The Acting is bloody superb.

What film and TV in this country really needs is a whole new crop of actors – of all ages to – finally supercede the tired hacks that continually blight the screen day in-day out, in the same identically themed rubbish that gets churned out with little more than title change.
I mean, it seems like the same handful (monopolic cartel) of people get cast in each and every show and surely there are more talented people or people who aspire to such talent who should be given a look in.
I know the hacks need to make a living, but I really see no point in seeing the likes of Colosimo, Dimetriades, Sweet, Holden, McClune, Gibney, Mendelsohn, Taylor, Bisley, Waters, Howard, ect, ect, ect, ad nauseum each and every time I flick on the box or change channels.
Where is the enjoyment and variety in hearing and seeing these same people in the same kind of typecast roles and high pitched voices each time they appear.
Really, it’s time for new faces to step up and be discovered.
We can do better and it’s no wonder really that our TV and film is conidered a joke and quaint by those overseas.
And who said the acting on Rush was superb?????
