Corporate PRs don’t need to be web savvy

You don’t actually need to know much about Web 2.0 to make it in Aussie corporate PR, a senior marketing recruiter has admitted. Speaking to the PR Disasters blog, David Grant from recruitment specialists Market U suggests that those at the top end of companies are still wary of social media.

However, that’s not a view shared by PR practitioners. Earlier this year, rather than launch a separate digital division, Sydney-based Upstream said it had moved to make sure all of its staff were digitally savvy.
