Creative agency Ugly shuts
Ugly, a creative agency launched by TBWA Sydney’s ex executive creative director Gary McCreadie, Anomaly Amsterdam’s founding partner and CEO Hazelle Klonhammer, and M&C Saatchi’s former head of strategy Ross Berthinussen, has closed its doors after less than two years.
Ugly launched in April last year with M&C Saatchi as a financial backer. Enquiries sent to Ugly are now being directed to M&C Saatchi Group’s CEO Jaimes Legget.
Co-founder McCreadie had already departed the agency in May.
It was later revealed that McCreadie was joining 303 MullenLowe as its executive creative director.
Mumbrella understands the agency closed a few months ago.
Eight months after opening, Ugly won its first pitch and bagged the creative account for online mortgage broker Uno Home Loans.
The agency also had surf brand Ozmosis as one of its clients.
Since September, co-founder Berthinussen has been working as an independent brand consultant across both large and small clients.
M&C Saatchi declined to comment while Klonhammer and Berthinussen have been approached for comment.

Hi Superman,
You can see clearly by the time stamps that Campaign Brief posted this story by 12:15pm, and ours was posted at 1:34pm.
In no way does this story imply we got it first or it is in any way exclusive.
If The Daily Telegraph got the drop on ScoMo resigning, I would still expect The SMH to look into it and report it though – so I don’t really see the issue here.
I hope things are well at The Daily Planet,
Vivienne – Mumbrella
Wow, who cares? We’re talking about a start-up agency that won 1.5 clients in a year then went bust. Hardly the biggest story of the year.

Well you cared enough to comment.
Nothing wrong with having a go and starting something – some succeed, some fail, most fail first and then succeed.
