Dancing with the Stars finale gets 883,000 viewers but it’s not enough to give Seven a win
The grand finale of Dancing With the Stars aired last night with TV and radio presenter Emma Freedman taking out the mirror ball trophy.
As with the rest of the series the finale was well down on lat year’s numbers with 883,000 tuning in last night, down from the 1.063m who watched last year. In 2013 the finale had nearly 1.4m viewers and won the night.
Last night it was relegated to eighth place overall and did not make the top five of any of the demographics which were all topped by the second episode of Nine’s The Block which attracted 932,000 and was the highest rating entertainment show of the night.
Nine won the night with an audience share of 20.2 per cent, beating Seven with 18.9 per cent. ABC grabbed 17.3 per cent share leaving behind Ten (12.5 per cent) and SBS (4.5 per cent).
Ten’s 7.30pm offering The Great Australian Spelling Bee attracted 662,000 viewers for its semi final, up from 639,000 last Monday. It finishes tonight. Have You Been Paying Attention had 568,000 viewers at 8.40pm.
Nine’s local drama House Husbands faced a drop in audience with 699,000 viewers at 8.40pm, from 732,000 last week.
ABCs Monday night lineup of 7.30 (877,000), Australian Story (837,000) and Four Corners (823,000) attracted healthy numbers for the network.
Despite strong ratings from The Block, Network Seven edged ahead by 0.1 per cent of total audience share, beating their rivals with 27.1 per cent to Nine’s 27.0 per cent.
Nine News was still the top-rating program of the evening with 1.218m viewers, beating Seven News with 1.042m.
Sunrise won the breakfast ratings with 336,000 over Nine’s Today, which had 319,000 viewers.

That’s a really disappointing number for the DWTS final.
The content of the show was fantastic and really entertaining but Shane Bourne made it project older and almost daggy.
Will he be back for 2016 ?

I’ve watched every season until this year – Shane Bourne was awful and each year the definition of a ‘celebrity’ gets weaker and more blurry.

Shane Bourne should be confirmed for the 2016 season of DWTS – as a dancer.
