David Attenborough in Australia hands Nine a Wednesday night TV win

David Attenborough’s Seven Worlds One Planet is continuing its run on Nine, with Wednesday night’s episode on Australia watched by 772,000 metro viewers, making it the most-watched episode of the series so far.

The first episode, Antarctica, drew 538,000 metro viewers, while the second, Asia, brought in 564,000. The Australian episode on Wednesday night was also the top of all three of the key advertising demographics – 16-39s, 18-49s and 25-54s. In national viewers, the show brought in 1.126m.

Nine was also the most-watched channel with metro audiences in the 25-54 demographic, holding 21.4% share, and the 16-39 demographic with a 20.8% share.

Seven News was the most-watched program overall, drawing 932,000 metro and 1.397m nationally. Nine News brought in 775,000 and 1.041m.

Seven Worlds One Planet was the most-watched entertainment program, followed by Gruen on ABC which brought in 640,000 metro viewers and 913,000 nationally. It sat just above ABC News which was watched by 600,000 metro and 881,000 national viewers.

552,000 metro viewers tuned in for Home and Away on Seven, followed by 385,000 for Zumbo’s Just Desserts. The Good Doctor brought in 450,000 after.

On ABC, Julie Zemiro’s Home Delivery had 486,000 metro viewers before Gruen, and Frayed brought in 319,000 after.

Ten aired the first two episodes of US comedy The Unicorn to 324,000 and 276,000 metro viewers.

Nine took the win for the night overall, buoyed by Attenborough, holding a 20.8% primary channel audience share and a 29.5% network share. Seven sat just below on 18.6% as a channel and 28.0% as a network. ABC held 13.6% and 18.4%, while Ten slipped to just 8.3% and 16.0%. 10 Bold was the most-watched multi-channel with a 5.0% share.
