David Hearn joins Mitchell & Partners to lead strategy on Federal Government account
Former UM Melbourne managing partner – strategy David Hearn has emerged at Mitchell & Partners to head up planning for the Federal Government media account.
Whilst he had been stepped up to be one of four managing partners in the business when it was merged with MBThree in August 2013, CEO Mat Baxter decided to change the structure to add “a clear leader in the office” promoting Ivo Kavelj as managing director and Alex Smith as general manager last May.
Hearn left UM in August after spending 18-months with the agency.
John Thompson, Managing Director of Government Services “We’re clearly very excited to have David on board, he really is one of our industry’s best practitioners when it comes to marketing and communications planning. David compliments one of the strongest leadership teams in the market, and we’re really excited about working with him in further evolving our clients brands and our business into 2015 and beyond”
Hearn said: “It’s a really exciting time to be joining the Mitchells team. It’s a business with a lot of momentum, working with some of Australia’s most loved brands and organisations. I see a great opportunity in further driving their strategic capabilities and brand”
Mitchell & Partners too the Federal Government’s main media account from UM after a competitive pitch in April.
On Monday Mumbrella revealed Australia Post was also shifting its business to Mitchells from UM to align with the Federal Government buying rates.
