DR MUMBO’S DIARY: Herald journo Asher Moses victim of fake Twitterer

fake-asher-mosesAfter the hacking of digital minister Stephen Conroy’s Twitter profile, Sydney Morning Herald digital writer Asher Moses is the next to enjoy the treatment, with a fake Asher Moses profile having popped up in the last few days.

So far Fake Asher Moses has messaged:

“Did you hear? They have the internet on computers now.”

Today the lucky boy is at the Consumer Electronics Show gadget convention in the US. He confides: “The best part about CES is being paid by Sony to go to Las Vegas.” Followed by: “No, wait, the BEST part about CES is getting my byline changed to “Asher Moses in Las Vegas”. I feel like a star in that Casino tv show.”

Then our faker enters libel territory putting the enitrely inaccurate: “CES keynote live stream means journos can get coked up in their hotel room instead of putting pants on.” He then hastily adds: “Hey, I never said it was *me* getting coked up in a hotel room. You think I can afford cocaine on a Fairfax salary?”
More to follow, one suspects…
1.30pm update: More has indeed followed, swiftly. Dr Mumbo has just received an SMS stating “You killed Fake Asher Moses!” And indeed, the profile does seem to have vanished since this article was posted. Thank goodness for screengrabs, eh?
3.55pm update: He’s back again. The previous posts are missing, but there’s a whole new bunch.
