Emotive makes triple hire, names James Pash as creative director

Independent creative agency Emotive has announced three new appointments, adding James Pash, Katrina Maw and Ciaran Miller-Stubbs to its team.

The agency brings on board Pash as its new creative director, while Maw joins as an executive producer and Miller-Stubbs takes on the role of business director.

New creative director Pash, who starts in January, has been added after a series of business wins for Emotive, arriving from Rothco, Ireland. In Australia he’s worked at BMF, Leo Burnett Sydney and TBWA Sydney.

He said he’d enjoyed his last four years in Ireland but now it was time to come home. “Chatting to Simon and Hoggy, it was clear Emotive has enjoyed a remarkable 2020, despite everything, and have even bigger ambitions for what comes next.

“That sense of momentum, their independence, a growing team, and a great set of clients made joining a very easy decision. Working two minutes from Tamarama beach pushed it firmly into no-brainer territory.”

Maw joins as EP, having spent 18 years in the industry working for production companies and agencies including Droga5, TBWA, Host, Leo Burnett and most recently at Clemenger BBDO.

She said joining Emotive was an easy decision. “I have admired their production approach over the years – a high quality production company working in parallel with an innovative creative agency.”

Meanwhile, Miller-Stubbs moves to Emotive from his previous role as group account director at The Monkeys. He’s also had stints at Saatchi & Saatchi Lindon and BMF Sydney.

“I’m stoked to have joined the crew at Emotive. In a turbulent year, they’ve gone from strength-to-strength and with a lot of momentum, big plans, and possibly the best office location in Sydney, I’m really excited to get stuck in and play my part,” he said.

Emotive CEO Simon Joyce said expanding the team is one of the best moments of 2020, after a difficult year.

If you said to me in April, when lockdown was kicking off and millions of dollars of work was cancelled, that we would end the year with the largest team we have ever had, I would have said you are bonkers,” he said.

“As we head into 2021, there is a wonderful sense of creativity and momentum right through the business, and I know Katrina, James and Ciaran will further that.”
