Final episode of Gruen season brings in 688,000 viewers

The final episode of the latest season of ABC’s advertising and marketing panel program, Gruen, had a metro audience of 688,000 last night.

The show, hosted by comedian and Triple M Melbourne breakfast co-host Wil Anderson, premiered earlier in the year to an audience of 734,000, significantly down on the year prior’s premiere of 903,000.

Last week’s episode had 727,000 metro viewers, according to OzTAM’s preliminary overnight metro ratings.

The most-watched entertainment program last night, however, was Masterchef on Ten, which had 920,000 tuning in to see the contestants serve food to Prince Charles.

The number was slightly down on the season’s peak thus far of 938,000 metro viewers, but was up on last night’s 848,000.

Masterchef also topped the key advertising demographics of those aged 16 to 39, 18 to 49 and 25 to 54.

Seven’s prime-time offering of House Rules had 748,000 metro viewers, while Young Sheldon on Nine had 580,000. The second episode, a repeat, had 483,000.

Seven topped the ratings ladder with Seven News drawing in 1.035m and also won the night with a 19.1% audience share. The race for second position was close, with Nine emerging with 16.1% and Ten not far behind on 15.8%.

The ABC had an audience share of 12.2%, while SBS had 4.7%.

On the multi-channels, the most-watched program was Peter Rabbit on ABC Kids with 224,000 viewers. The second-last episode of Love Island on 9Go had 185,000 metro viewers tuning in. It also had 25,000 live streaming on 9Now.

Seven Network, including its multi-channels 7mate and 7Two, also won the night with a 29.4% audience share.
