First Look: Taskmaster to premier on Ten next month

Network Ten is building momentum for the new comedy series it hopes will turn things around after a disappointing start to reworked reality format The Bachelors last week.

Adapted from the UK series of the same name, Taskmaster will see local comics go head-to-head in a series of challenges, battling to take out points by completing menial tasks with “as much speed and pizazz as they can muster”.

Each week, Ttskmaster Tom Gleeson, and his sidekick Tom Cashman, will set comedians Julia Morris, Luke McGregor, Jimmy Rees, Nina Oyama and Danielle Walker a series of tasks, each more mind-bending than the last.

Daniel Monaghan, SVP content and programming, Paramount ANZ, said: “Taskmaster Australia continues Network 10’s heavy investment in local comedy. At the helm of one of the most lucrative comedic formats is funny man and Gold Logie winner Tom Gleeson, who’s joined by some of Australia’s best comedians.

“Taskmaster Australia is ludicrous, laugh-out loud comedy and will be right at home on 10.”

The series is set to commence from 7:30pm on 2 February on channel Ten and 10Play, premiering in the same weeks as the return of fan-favourite Australian Survivor, in the new US format, Heros Versus Villians.
