Five tonnes of cranberries for Ocean Spray shoot
The Aura Vale Lake at Menzies Creek in Victoria was transformed into a Massachusetts cranberry harvest in this ad for Ocean Spray.
Created by ad agency HBT and featuring actress Kate Kendall, five tonnes of frozen cranberries were shipped in for the shoot. It replicated , the cranberry harvest which takes place in the northern autumn by flooding the marsh where they grow, then collecting the berries from the surface of the water.
Anne-Maree Ogilvie, Ocean Spray’s commercial manager, said: “We wanted to capitalise on something that’s unique to Ocean Spray, and we’re very confident we’ve done a compelling job.”
David Hayes, HBT principal, said: “From the moment we saw photographs of the harvest, we knew that was it. There’s a drama to the harvest that set it apart as a story. What’s more, as the world’s leading cranberry grower, it’s something Ocean Spray can own.”
How completely and utterly ridiculous, meanwhile people in this country let alone 3rd world countries are starving.

Yeah, starving. I mean *really starving* for cranberries.
More amusing that it’s more practical to ship 5 tonnes of frozen cranberries to Oz than ship a crew to Massachusetts.
Even more amusing that Ocean Spray has hours of stock footage, but I’m sure a special shot was required…

What I find odd is that they expect viewers to know what they are looking at. Without the back-story I see a bunch of people in greasy water pants, waist deep in cranberries. A few of them are lovingly pushing them around with big wooden ladles. What I don’t see is why. Are we supposed to know they flood the fields?
Looks like they are gathering fish eggs.
