Former BWM Dentsu CMO Jess Tarpey joins McCann Sydney as managing partner

Former BWM Dentsu CMO, Jess Tarpey, has been appointed as managing partner at McCann Sydney.

Tarpey joined BWM Dentsu in April 2017 as director of people and culture, and was promoted to chief marketing officer in February 2018.

Whilst at BWM Denstu, Tarpey co-chaired the Reconciliation Action Plan, the creative industry’s initiative to connect Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.

Previously, Tarpey spent over four years with the Havas Worldwide Network, starting out in London and leaving as a group account director in Sydney.

Hazelle Klønhammer, McCann Sydney managing director, said in a statement: “After an extensive global search we are delighted to have Jess on board. She’s smart as a whip with exceptional people skills and a huge heart. With her strong track record in winning new business I’m excited to see what we can achieve together.”

Tarpey said of her appointment: “I was looking for what most people are looking for in an agency; somewhere with talented, lovely people, great clients and bags of potential. I’ve found that in spades at McCann Sydney, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Earlier this year, McCann Sydney appointed Darren Spiller as chief creative officer, and Klønhammer as its managing director.

Klønhammer took over from Adam Lee, who departed McCann Sydney as its managing director in September 2018 after three years in the role.

McCann’s national CEO Nicole Taylor announced her departure in June, with the agency not intending to replace the role.
