Former P&O marketer lands at Aurora Expeditions
Marketer Katie Malone has landed her next gig after the closure of P&O Cruises Australia earlier this year.
Malone had been the marketing director at P&O since late 2022. Last year, it was revealed that the 90-year-old cruise line’s local operations were to fold from March 2025, with its fleet to be rebranded and operated by Carnival Cruise Line.
At P&O, she led the strategic repositioning of the brand, as well as the rebranding transition earlier this year.

Before the cruise line, she spent over five years with Crystalbrook Collection Hotels & Resorts, where she developed and launched brand architecture and sustainability platforms, including the Responsible Luxury Initiative.
She has held a number of other senior marketing and commercial leadership roles in the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries, including Marriott International, Jumeirah Group, Langham Hotel Group, and Singapore Airlines.
Announced on Wednesday, Malone has joined adventure travel company Aurora Expeditions as its new chief marketing officer.
Based in Sydney, she will lead the company’s global marketing strategy.
She will work closely with the brand’s marketing and commercial teams globally. Her appointment comes as the group is preparing to welcome its third ‘purpose-built’ small ship, the “Douglas Mawson”, later this year.
“Katie’s deep expertise across global travel and hospitality, combined with her purpose-driven leadership, makes her a fantastic fit for Aurora,” Michael Heath, Aurora Expeditions’ CEO, said in the release.
“Her vision and experience will be instrumental as we continue to grow our brand, expand into new markets, and deliver unforgettable expedition experiences in the world’s most remote and awe-inspiring destinations.”
Malone said joining a business that combines respect for the planet with transformative travel experiences is “an opportunity to help shape not just how we market, but why”.
“I’m proud to be part of a company which exists to inspire, educate, and advocate for the protection and preservation of the world’s most wild places,” she said in the release. “I feel incredibly privileged to help shape the next chapter at Aurora Expeditions.”
