Former Virgin Mobile CEO David Scribner joins Ooh Media as chief customer officer

Ooh Media has appointed former Virgin Mobile boss David Scribner to the newly created role of chief customer officer.

Scribner, who was also the CEO of True Local and is currently chairman of the Ad Standards Board, will be in charge of helping advertisers and property partners to engage with audiences more effectively. Ooh Media’s revenue and marketing teams will report directly to Scribner’s newly created role.

Scribner will commence his new role in October

Brendon Cook, CEO of Ooh Media said the company had recognised the need for a chief customer officer almost two years ago. The appointment is part of Ooh Media’s plans to evolve the business by 2020. It also comes as Ooh Media finalises a merger with Here, There and Everywhere’s outdoor business, Adshel.

Cook said agency customers and partners had changing needs, making it clear a customer centric lens was needed.

“With the support of a selection committee also comprising of our Chairman Tony Faure and Board Member Joanne Crewes – who has proven global brand marketing and business leadership expertise – David was a clear stand out from a field of high-quality candidates as the best person to help us continue to drive our transformation to a customer centric organisation,” he said.

“David brings intimate knowledge of the needs of advertisers, understands the media agency landscape and is experienced in bringing together senior teams across multidisciplinary customer touching areas.

“On top of this, he clearly gets out of home, has demonstrated the ability to create a customer centric organisation that drives business growth and importantly, will be a great fit for our culture.”

He added Scribner would be pivotal in unifying the strategy for the combined Ooh Media and Adshel business.

Scribner said Ooh Media’s offering was “compelling” for advertisers.

“Out of Home is a great medium to build brands and what’s more, it is more cost effective when compared to other channels,” Scribner said.

“I look forward to working with the current team at oOh! and collaborating with Adshel’s new products and people, to shift the market being neutral about Out of Home to being powerful advocates.”

Scribner will commence his new role on October 8.
