Screen Australia appoints Bernadine Lim head of documentary

Screen Australia has named Bernadine Lim its new head of documentary.

Lim will commence her new role on November 8, replacing Liz Stevens, who worked with the body for 10 years.

On her appointment, she said it was a “great responsibility” to develop and create Australian stories.

“I hope to bring a distinct contribution to the industry through this very special role,” Lim said.

Lim currently works as executive producer for SBS Dateline, a program which she joined in 2014 as supervising producer. She has also worked on a number of other programs, including The Truth Is? and Once Upon a Time in Cabramatta.

Throughout her career, Lim has worked on original content and format shows for BBC World, National Geographic, Discovery International, TVNZ, TV3 and NBC Universal

Sally Caplan, head of content at Screen Australia, said Lim was an asset to both Screen Australia and the sector.

“Bernadine’s industry knowledge and expertise across a myriad of formats and genres makes her the perfect choice for this new role as the head of the Documentary Unit,” Caplan said.
