Fox’s The Predator fails to knock Crazy Rich Asians off perch despite earning $2.38m at weekend box office

Fox’s latest science fiction thriller The Predator has failed to knock Warner Bros’ Crazy Rich Asians off the top weekend box office spot despite bringing in $2.383m.

In its first weekend in the box office, The Predator still didn’t manage to beat Crazy Rich Asians’ $2.427m from 314 screens.

This is the second weekend in a row Crazy Rich Asians has taken the top spot. The romantic comedy has also in earnings since it debuted with earnings of $1.8m.

Last week, the film managed an additional $5.2m in the weekend box office.

The film, which is based on the novel by Kevin Kwan, premiered on August 15 and has made $16.96m to date.

Out of all of the new releases including Christopher Robin, Searching, The Hows of Us, Seemaraja, Manmarziyaan and Sailaja Reddy Alludu, The Predator was the highest grossing film over the weekend.

Meanwhile, falling from third place to fifth was Roadshow’s A Simple Favour starring Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick.

The mystery thriller film made $2.13m over the course of the weekend and was up on last weekend’s pre-release screening figure of $615,746.

Fourth pace went to Warner Bros’ The Nun which dropped from second place as it managed $1.75m across 230 screens.

The Nunn still managed to beat Christopher Robin’s $1.45m for its weekend in the box office debut.
