Filming to start on Foxtel’s ACP behind-the-scenes doco Park Street
ACP Magazines and Foxtel have revealed details of Park Street, a documentary series which will follow the working lives of staff on Cosmopolitan, Cleo, Madison, Shop Till You Drop and Dolly.
Filming starts this month and the ten part series will be aired on Arena next year.
Arena channel manager Duane Hatherly said “Park Street will take the viewer on a fascinating journey inside some of Australia’s biggest magazine brands.”
ACP Magazines’ deputy group publishing director Gerry Reynolds said “Park Street presents a great promotional opportunity. The synergies between these titles and Arena is a win-win for both parties – and the sponsors who come on board with us.”
Park Street is produced by Vokyo Entertainment.
Park Street is not the only fly on the wall media documentary to have been contemplated recently. Earlier this year Seven looked at show following the staff of Sweaty Betty PR, although it was later reported to have ditched the idea.
This is sounding more like a 10-part infomercial than a documentary series. Surely a series called “Park Street” should be spending some (maybe a lot) of time in the boardroom upstairs? Btw, why have I never heard of that “biggest magazine brand” Shop Till You Drop?

i actually think, if executed correctly, this could be riveting. If i were the production company i’d be taking notes from “the September Issue” and make sure that the right characters are found to follow…otherwise i agree Rick, it could end up feeling very Brand Power for ACP

Has Australian television really come to this? How sad.

That will be awesome! Can’t wait to see it!!!!
Wonder if they will portray them as pretentious and reserved like in the September Issue with Anna Wintour or more fun and laid back?

Yes, this will be a slick little PR exercise – am sure they will include some stuff to make it look ‘warts and all’ but I expect it’s going to be more ‘behind the scenes’ gloss and fun. And of course, boosting the profile of ACP Magazines fits perfectly into the plan to float the company second half of 2011.

Seems to be a big push around ACP right now … looks like Gyngell is trying to push ACP share through leveraging Ch9 assets too – http://www.theaustralian.com.a.....5949113602

My dealings with ACP lately have been most entertaining. They’ve pitched ideas to us that they couldn’t execute, they’ve quoted circulation figures that were wrong and printing figures that were off. I wonder if the doco could be as entertaining as real life?

That place is a house of narcissists. Done properly, this show could make Housewives of New York look like a fairytale.

That place is a house of narcissists. If they pull this show off, it will make Housewives of New York look like a fairytale.

Should try South Park (Street) – little cartmans running around with fake tan & heels…

How interesting. Will they show people like Deborah Thomas treating their assistants like trash? Can’t wait.

I think it would be more appropriate to title the series “The Real House of Vacuous C#nts”.

Honestly, Park Street will rock! Look out, you really don’t know what you are in for. And Deborah Thomas is a publishing icon. If you have ever had the luck to work with her you would know how fab she is.

They couldn’t show the truth about what goes on at park st as if they did there would be lawsuits and payouts happening 24/7
