Clare O’Neill joins the SBS after more than five years with Free TV Australia

O’Neil has been with Free TV Australia for five-and-a-half years as the director of legal and broadcasting policy and company secretary and has been acting CEO for the past four months following the retirement of Julie Flynn.

She replaces Tureia Sample who has been with SBS since December 2003 and has been director of corporate affairs for the past year.

An SBS spokesperson said: “After 13 years at SBS, Tureia has decided to return to a commercial legal role and will be joining PricewaterhouseCoopers. During the 13 years, Tureia has contributed significantly to the organisation and we wish her all the best for the future.

“Clare comes to SBS from Free TV – she has more than 12 years’ experience as a legal and regulatory professional in the media and communications industry.”

O’Neil will join the SBS from early November.

FreeTV Australia named Brett Savill as its new CEO at the end of last week.
