Georgie Pownall joins McCann Melbourne as managing director
McCann Melbourne has announced its new managing director, Georgie Pownall, following the departure of Anita Deutsch-Burley.
Deutsch-Burley exited the agency earlier in the year while Pownall joined the agency from Publicis Mojo where she was its general manager for three years.
During her career Pownall has also worked at agencies including The Campaign Palace, DDB, Saatchi & Saatchi and CHE Proximity.
“I’m extremely excited to enter McCann at such a formative time. McCann Melbourne has enormous growth potential and continues to be a proven creative powerhouse,” Pownall said in a statement.
Pownall is the third managing director at the agency since September last year when Deloitte poached McCann Melbourne’s managing director Adrian Mills, head of strategy and media David Phillips, executive creative director Matt Lawson and digital media lead Justine Mills.
In a series of change for the agency since then, McCann’s CEO Ben Lily stepped down to relocate to France with his family in February and two months later DDB’s Nicole Taylor and Fran Clayton joined the agency as national CEO and CSO.
Taylor added: “Georgie is an inspiring leader, whose passion for creativity is infectious and will be instrumental in bringing to life our shared vision for McCann Melbourne.”
