Hamish’s blue tie gets the snip
Dr Mumbo isn’t sure about Hamish MacDonald’s decision to wear a blue tie during an interview with Destroy The Joint’s Jenna Price.
In part he’s not sure whether it was a good idea to wear it. And in part he isn’t sure whether what followed wasn’t a stunt.
During a six minute interview, Price explained her views on ‘menu gate’, ‘blue tie gate’ and the broader issues of misogyny in Australian culture.
As a young twentysomething, what I most enjoy about Australian politics and political commentary is how it saves me money on going to the circus, when I can get a similar performance of clowns by switching onto any media platform you care to name.
Yeah the big issues are being discussed.
Jenna Price is a journalism lecturer at UTS? As someone who regularly works with media graduates, this stunt is a concern. Not good.
Of course it was a stunt! What news desk has a pair of scissors readily at hand?
Seriously TEN … that is embarrassing for all involved?
Oh…how contrived! Thought it was quite interesting until the ‘stunt’ was pulled. Lost a few credibility points there, 10…
Stef,
Obviously TEN!
Was the clumsy edit to the scissors in hand part of the broadcast? Tacky and embarrassing.
I continue to be so embarrassed by the politicians in Australia and the commercial tv channels and radio stations – and now even the academics.
Time to grow up Australia – in all ways – if we want to be a prosperous and well regarded country. A business commentator on Sunday morning ABC referred to Australia being in a state of ‘rigamortous’. I agree and it goes beyond business. It is extremely disturbing.
Oh, I missed it the first time around. She’s from UTS. That explains it.
If a man had done that to a woman, there would be hell to pay.But if it’s the other way it’s funny
