The wizarding powers of Harry Potter proved more of a draw than the super powers of Peter Parker on TV last night to help Nine seal an audience share ratings week win over Seven.

Nine managed to win Saturday night to claim the week, but the result was much tighter than the powers that be would have hoped for after the finale of The Block managed to pull the highest entertainment show ratings of the year on Sunday with 2.135m metro viewers.

However a lack of depth over the rest of the week saw Seven close the gap on Nine’s 30.4% to 16.8% share on Sunday to finish the with cumulative shares for the week of 19.6% to 18.8% respectively.

Nine managed to beat Seven on Saturday night with its news at 6pm drawing 720,000 viewers to 716,000 and movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire claiming 364,000 viewers to 351,000 for Seven’s The Amazing Spiderman from 7pm.

It gave the channel a share of 16.6% for the night compared to Seven’s 16%, although bother were outstripped by the ABC which had a 17.1% share, with its news the most-watched show on Saturday with 748,000 viewers.

SBS got 169,000 viewer for its EPL match in which Manchester United and Arsenal drew 1-1 at 11.45pm. The changeover from SBS2 to Viceland which happened on Tuesday failed to move the dial significantly for the broadcaster, finishing the week with a 1% audience share.
