Heidi Anderson leaves Perth’s Hit 92.9 breakfast team

Radio shake-ups for 2019 aren’t done just yet, with Heidi Anderson announcing she’s not returning to her Perth breakfast role on Southern Cross Austero’s (SCA) Hit 92.9.

Anderson joined the station in 2013 after time in the Big Brother house, and regional radio stints in Bathurst, Bunbury and Newcastle.

The breakfast trio came together in July

She leaves behind co-hosts Xavier Ellis and Pete Curulli. Together the trio formed the Heidi, Xavier and Pete Show.

Anderson has been on maternity leave in recent months, with her son Memphis born in September, and Hit 92.9 content director Tim Arnold said the move makes sense.

“Motherhood, much like radio, is a role Heidi was born for. I know just how much she was torn over her decision, but if you’ve met beautiful Memphis, you’ll understand,” he said.

Juelz Jarry has been filling in during Anderson’s absence, and will take on the full-time role next year.

“That we have someone proven with Xavier and Pete waiting in the wings is the best luck,” added Arnold. “I love rewarding great people who are great at their jobs and no-one deserves this permanent call up more than Juelz.”

In the most recent radio ratings survey, Hit 92.9 had a 9.6% share in breakfast – up 0.5 points from the prior survey. This put the program behind Nova 93.7’s 14.1% , Mix 94.5’s 12.6%, and 96 FM’s 10.6%.

Anderson previously hosted the show with Will McMahon and Woody Whitelaw. McMahon and Whitelaw subsequently moved to ARN’s Kiis drive-time slot, replacing Dave Hughes and Kate Langbroek, who themselves had defected to SCA’s Hit Network.

Whitelaw and McMahon were then replaced by former AFL player Ellis and Canberra radio host Ryan Jon.

Earlier this year, Jon departed for family reasons. He was replaced by Pete Curulli, who had previously hosted The Rush Hour with Lisa Shaw on SCA’s Mix 94.5.
