Howatson and Company’s chief strategist departs
The chief strategy officer at Howatson and Company, Dom Hickey, will depart the agency after three years to take a career break.
Under her strategic leadership, Howatson has created a number of notable campaigns including Modibodi’s ‘I’m Dying Inside’, ABC’s ‘The Great Unsubscribe’, and Domain’s ‘Know What We Know’ with Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannevale.
She was responsible for building the agency’s strategic output, deepening relationships with clients, and contributing to industry recognition, including at the 2024 Mumbrella Awards.
“Working at Howatson has been an extraordinary experience,” Hickey said.
“It’s an agency like nowhere else I’ve worked in the industry. Howie has built one of the most impressive indies in Australia with a talent line up that’s unmatched. It’s been an enormous privilege to have been part of the first few years of the agency.”
“The past three years have seen transformational growth for both the agency and me professionally,” she said.
“Leaving the agency is a personal decision to take some time to pause. There are no big reveals on the way.”
Chris Howatson, founder and CEO of the agency, said Hickey is a “disproportional contributor” to the people and clients of Howatson and Company.
“She cares fiercely about the work, her team, the agency and clients,” he said.
“She’s been a huge part of our agency and while we’re saying farewell for now in her current role, we’re anticipating her return to the agency in some capacity in the future.”
Editor’s note: Mumbrella has changed the way it deals with company names. House style is now to use standard proper noun capitalisation on all names regardless of brand typography. Brand typography may be retained in direct quotes from releases.
