Time Out owner Intermedia buys A LIST Guide and Food Wine Sleep

IntermediaIndependent publisher The Intermedia Group has purchased A LIST Guide and its sister title Food Wine Sleep.

A LIST Guide is an annually published guide to event venues, events suppliers and team activities across Australia while Food Wine Sleep focuses on food, beverage and accommodation experiences for consumers.

“A LIST Guide is a natural fit for Intermedia and we expect the synergies to provide benefits and opportunities for both businesses immediately,” said Simon Grover, managing director of The Intermedia Group .

“Food Wine Sleep is also a well established product that will benefit from working within the Intermedia stable,” he said.

The purchase is effective from July 1 and sees Intermedia take over its print and online assets as well as all associated events including the A LIST Guide Open House concept, which was launched at the AIME trade fair earlier this year.

The founders of A LIST Guide and Food Wine Sleep, Amy Merriman and James McGregor said the sale to Intermedia would take the business to the next stage of its evolution.

“A LIST Guide and Spice News are a natural fit, as two market-leading editorial and information source products. Having previously collaborated on a number of initiatives in the past, this acquisition is an excellent step towards establishing a unique and powerful media force for advertisers and a superior resource for subscribers,” said Merriman.

“Advertisers in A LIST Guide and Food Wine Sleep will now have broadened opportunities for cross promotional activities through The Intermedia Group’s stable of titles,” she said.

Intermedia also owns entertainment guide Time Out, which is similar to Food Wine Sleep. A spokesman for Intermedia said: “at this point in time there has been no discussion with Time Out.”

Merriman and McGregor established A LIST Guide in 2006 and launched Food Wine Sleep in 2009. A LIST Guide was recently awarded Best Product & Service in the Australian Event Industry Awards.

The Intermedia Group is among Australia’s largest business to business publishing companies and now has 26 separate printed magazines and 22 separate online newsletters and digital products.
