Jellysmack APAC managing director Ezechiel Ritchie confirms redundancy

Jellysmack’s Ezechiel Ritchie has been made redundant after being promoted to APAC general manager last July, as rumours swirl that the US creator business is shutting up shop in Australia.

Ritchie confirmed the news of his redundancy on LinkedIn, sharing that Jellysmack’s decision to let him go a few weeks prior “came as a bit of a shock”.

“In hindsight, it has been a great opportunity to reset and spend time with my family, wife, daughter and our newborn son, something that I have never really done since starting my professional career almost 15 years ago,” he continued.

Speaking to trade publication Mediaweek on Friday, a Jellysmack spokesperson denied claims it was looking to close its operations in Australia and New Zealand.

They told the publication: “The information you received is inaccurate. We maintain a presence in the region and continue to support a roster of top creators across Australia and New Zealand.”

Despite this, Mumbrella understands that only one employee remains in the ANZ market. Jellysmack was contacted for further comment, however did not respond.

Ritchie first joined the creator business as SEA and ANZ manager in 2021, following a five-year stint at Taboola heading up sales for Australia and New Zealand. He has also held a number of roles at Google.
