Koala’s Matthew Rossi joins Canva as head of creative
Matthew Rossi has departed Koala’s in-house creative team to join Canva as head of creative – brand.
Rossi spent just under two years at Koala, starting out as a creative producer before being promoted to head of creative in January.
Previously, Rossi was the company manager of the Belvoir Theatre in Sydney.
A Canva spokesperson told Mumbrella: “We’re thrilled to have Matt join us at this very exciting time in the Canva journey. Matt will play an instrumental role in helping us raise awareness of our product to even more people – and ultimately bring us one step closer to empowering the whole world to design.”
Recently, Koala launched its first in-house integrated campaign, celebrating the benefits of taking a sickie for your mental health.
In March last year, Koala’s in-house creative team launched a billboard which asked passers by “Want longer lasting sleep?” based on the ’90s nasal spray advertisement that promised longer lasting sex. This was then followed by another billboard emblazoned with the term ‘Nofnidea’ which took aim at the frustrating assembly process of Ikea furniture, was later cleared by Ad Standards.
It also poked fun at rival Bedroom Furniture brand De Rucci with a billboard referring to the company’s use of a solemn looking designer type.
Mumbrella has contacted Koala for comment.
