MAFS finishes the season with 1.066m metro viewers; Total TV figures for Survivor, Idol finales

The finale of Nine’s Married At First Sight (MAFS) on Nine aired to 1.066 million metro viewers and topped Monday programming. However, it was the lowest metro overnight rating the show’s finale has seen in the past five years.

The MAFS finale in 2022 brought in 1.207 million viewers on metro free-to-air, while the 2021 figure was 1.398 million, 1.478 million in 2020 and 1.968 million in 2019.

However, MAFS was not the only show subjected to linear viewership erosion.

Australian Survivor’s winner announcement segment on Ten this year brought in 650,000 metro viewers – a slight uptick from 631,000 in 2022, but a significant drop from 923,000 in 2021 and 944,000 in 2020.

In the Daily Consolidated 7 Total TV ratings for Australian Survivor, 1.094 million Total TV viewers (29% uplift and 188,000 on national BVOD) tuned in to the winner announcement segment and the finale brought in 1.01 million Total TV viewers (32% uplift and 182,000 on national BVOD) on average.

Meanwhile, Seven’s Australian Idol had 1.032 million Total TV viewers (14% uplift and 95,000 on national BVOD) for the winner announcement segment and the finale brought in 959,000 Total TV viewers (14% uplift and 86,000 on national BVOD) on average.

The consolidated figures for Married At First Sight’s finale will be released next Tuesday. However, in the report for 27 March, MAFS last Monday has 1.825 million Total TV viewers with 502,000 on national BVOD, and the biggest uplift of the day with 48%.

Furthermore in Monday overnight, The Chase Australia on Seven came second in entertainment with 533,000 metro viewers, followed by the network’s Home and Away with 486,000 metro viewers.

Ten’s returning series I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! scored 465,000 metro viewers on its second night.

The #1 news program on Monday night was Seven News with 992,000 metro viewers, followed by Seven News at 6:30 with 989,000, Nine News at 6:30 and Nine News with 773,000.

Nine Network won the night with a 36.5% overall share, followed by Seven with 22.5%, Ten with 17.1% and ABC with 17%.

The top-rated primary channel was Nine with 30.1%, but the top-rated multichannel was 7Two with 3.3%.
