Masterchef most-popular entertainment program for Thursday TV

Ten’s reality cooking show, Masterchef, was the most watched non-news program of Thursday night TV, taking out a win in the key advertising demographics (16-39, 18-49 and 25-54) as well.

Michelle Lukman was eliminated from last night’s show which attracted an audience of 790,000 metro viewers, according to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary metro ratings.

Nationally – including both regional and metro affiliate stations – Masterchef managed 1.118m.

Also airing at 7.30pm was Nine’s RBT which managed 637,000 metro viewers, ahead of Seven’s First Dates UK, which didn’t make the top 20.

Nationally RBT saw 966,000 viewers tune in.

In sport for the evening Hawthorn’s win over the Adelaide Crows helped the AFL average a metro audience of 458,000 and 576,000 nationally.

Seven managed a win for the evening with an overall audience share of 21.3% ahead of Nine’s 17.1% and Ten’s 15.4% share.

Meanwhile ABC pulled a 10.9% share beating SBS’ 4%.

In the 6pm news battle Seven News was the most-watched program of the evening with 1.017m metro viewers and 1.648m nationally, ahead of Nine News’ 937,000 metro viewers and 942,000 nationally.

At 6.30pm Seven News/Today Tonight grabbed 957,000 beating Nine News’ 907,000.

Nationally, Seven managed 1.470m beating Nine’s 913,000 national viewers in the 6:30pm time slot.
