10:16am – Sad news yesterday as Ian Frykberg passed away. 8:21am – This morning’ media sections have The Australian saying Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull has set a deadline of the end of the year to decide on media consolidation, saying there will be some “upset” media owners following a decision – which The Oz interprets as meaning he is leaning towards passing the Bill.

The Australian Financial review has Nine Entertainment Co CEO David Gyngell “hosing down” (where do they store this hose everyone seems to use?) speculation linking the company to a merger with Fairfax, saying it would not happen whilst the publisher still has print assets.

8:12am –Morning all. Happy Monday. Somehow it’s already a quarter of the way through the year, and media consolidation is still top of the  news, especially for the national papers.
