This is Mumbrella’s live blog, our rolling diary of all the happenings in marketing and media. Refresh the page for the latest updates.

5:07pm – Even surf god Kelly Slater is in on the April Fool’s action, with a tongue-in-cheek posting on the ASP World Tour website saying he had split with his sponsor of 23-years Quiksilver.

5:01pm – News.com.au has an interesting piece around Bell’s Palsy, after it was revealed PR agency boss and blogger talent manager Roxy Jacenko has been diagnosed with the condition, which affects facial muscles amongst other things.

4:08pm – This is cute – The Lost Dogs Home is pairing up people with pets, and solving the sedentary office lifestyle problem, with a Human Walking Program scheme in Melbourne on Friday. More details here.

3.33pm – James Mathieson got taken in by his team on Wake Up this morning for April Fools. It’s worth a watch.

12:00pm – Most readers spotted our April Fools joke – with the Federal Government media pitch requiring the winner to move offices to Western Sydney. However, it does seem to have fooled at least one “Angry Pom”:

“This is disgraceful! I can’t believe the Federal Government can get away with something like this in this day and age. Racist much??”

Indeed – if you hover your mouse on the link at 9:34am – you can see we gave it away early.

11:18am – And of course the good folk at Metro Trains and McCann Melbourne have jumped on the April Fools bandwagon with this Dumb Ways to Die cautionary tale:

10:31am – Having trouble deciphering the prank from the serious stuff on April Fool’s Day? Fear not – we’ve rounded up the best we could find so far.

10:17am- TV ratings are in for last night, and there was some good news for Ten with Secrets and Lies picking up as it edges towards its finale. However, it couldn’t match Love Child and Revenge on its competitors.

9:34am – There are some interesting developments in the Federal Government media pitch, with the winning agency required to move its head office to Western Sydney. More here.

8:44am – However, Rupert’s tweet has left some feeling a little unloved:

8:40am – Rupert Murdoch is back on Twitter, but being US based we don’t think this was an April Fool’s joke as he celebrates passing 500,000 followers:

rupert's 500,0008:09am – Hello and welcome to the first day of a new month. Our inboxes have been inundated with a number of interesting media releases overnight but this one sent into us by Justin Kelly featuring a make over for the station’s Breakfast hosts John Stanley and Garry Linnell make us laugh. What do you think is it an improvement on the real bus ads?
