Mumbrellacast: Nine kicks off upfronts season; plus evolving the Royal brand

Nine was the first cab off the rank in upfronts season, with the Mumbrellacast team dissecting the standouts, plus the company's new employment bargaining agreement with its newspaper journos. Also, Al Crawford and Karina Keisler join the podcast to discuss the brand of the Royal Family, in a historic week following the passing of Elizabeth II.

Nine Entertainment Co. was out early doors in this year’s upfronts season, presenting its slate for 2023 to a packed room at Sydney’s Luna Park. Recording before the in-person event, the team wades through some of the coming year’s highlights.

Then, the company managed to avoid a journalist’s strike, with the team chatting about the last-minute deal struck between management and its MEAA member staff, before looking at rivals Seven nabbing the rights to The Logies.

Finally, a special conversation on the branding of the Royal Family, as we see a change in Monarchy for the first time in 70 years, following the passing of Elizabeth II. You’ll hear from Shapeshifter Consultings’ Al Crawford, and Hive Mind Australia’s Karina Keisler.
