Mumbrellacast: Peter Vogel on Wavemaker and WPP, the future of Seven and the ACCC adtech inquiry

This week Wavemaker CEO Peter Vogel joined the Mumbrellacast to talk through the media agency’s focus for 2020, the ‘fresh eyes’ of WPP AUNZ CEO Jens Monsees, and the energy new clients such as Mondelez bring to the agency.

Vogel also joined the team to talk through the news of the week, including the new industry body for independent media agencies. With Vogel’s background with an independent agency, the team discusses what the Independent Media Agencies of Australia (IMAA) will bring to the wider industry and how it could help small media shops grow.

SCA and Seven released their mid-year financial results, with both experiencing a down-turn in revenue and facing the challenges of the economic climate. Vogel voices his opinion on how the coronavirus outbreak has impacted the industry and what it will take for Seven to turn around.

And finally, the ACCC received the go-ahead from the government to commence an inquiry in to adtech and a further, five year inquiry into digital platforms. Vogel states the inquiry will be a good thing for the industry, giving the industry a more transparent way to do what’s best for the customer.
